S2QUIP

S2QUIP aims to revolutionize quantum light sources for photonic chips using atomically flat 2D semiconductors, overcoming current scalability issues. This approach enables surface processing for integrating quantum light sources into scalable photonic chips. S2QUIP will achieve deterministic generation and coupling of single and entangled photons, targeting 20 multiplexed sources to advance quantum computing, communication, and sensing technologies.

ARIAS

The design of air transport engines focuses on high efficiency and low noise, leading to lighter, thinner, and highly loaded components prone to vibrations, compromising structural integrity. Current methods don't reliably predict these vibrations. The ARIAS project aims to improve these methods with unique ground experiments to better understand and validate design methods. Expected impacts include reduced structural failure risk, optimized engine designs, and reduced design time and costs.

SocketSense

SocketSense, an EU-funded project, aims to develop an advanced sensor-based socket system for personalized, comfortable socket manufacturing. Using real-time monitoring of limb tissue with embedded sensors, the system will employ biomechanical modeling, CAD/CAM tools, and additive manufacturing. This will enable prosthetists to create a well-fitting socket within a day for all lower limb amputees, both above and below the knee.

Human Brain Project

The Human Brain Project (HBP) is a large-scale research initiative focused on digital brain research. It aims to understand the human brain's complex structure and function using interdisciplinary methods from neuroscience and technology. HBP scientists utilize advanced computing, neuroinformatics, and AI to drive brain research, translating findings into medical and technological innovations. They also address the social and ethical implications of their work.

ICHET

UNIDO-ICHET promoted global development and adoption of hydrogen energy technologies. It aimed to support sustainable industrial growth by fostering research, development, and commercialization of hydrogen solutions. The center facilitated international cooperation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing to advance clean energy and reduce fossil fuel reliance. It also created pilot projects, provided technical assistance, and advocated for supportive policy changes.
